⭐ Terrain Modifications:
- Smooth Terrain
- Flatten Terrain
- Lower Terrain
- Raise Terrain
- Cultivate Smooth
- Cultivate Flat
- Paved Road Smooth
- Paved Road Flat
- Mud Path
- Terrain Ramp
⭐ Terrain Ramp:
- Select Terrain Ramp from the hoe menu, then click a start point, click an end point, and move the cursor sideways to choose the width. Click a third time to build.
- The ground between the two points is cut or filled into a straight slope, and the edges are blended back into the surrounding terrain.
- The preview turns red when the ramp is too steep, too big, or beyond the terrain height limit.
- Scroll the mouse wheel while the ramp is selected to choose the paint for the ramp surface (None, Dirt, Cultivated, Paved or Grass). The choice is also in the config as Ramp Paint and can be changed live.
- Press the Step Back key
(default Z)to undo a point while placing. - Max slope, width limits, shoulder width and size limit are in the config under Ramp Settings.
⭐ Paint Modifications:
- Paint Dirt
- Paint Pave
- Paint Grass
- Paint Cultivate
- Clutter brushes: the Paint category also has a brush for each kind of clutter the game scatters over the ground. Click to paint that clutter inside the brush circle.
- Clear Clutter: erases painted clutter inside the brush circle.
- Clear Forestry: removes trees, stumps, shrubs, rocks and pickables inside the brush circle, like the remove_forestry console command. Nothing is dropped, and wards are respected. Uses the Hoe Radius controls below. Off by default; turn it on in the config (General Settings, Enable Clear Forestry Tool).
- Clutter brushes use the Hoe Radius controls below. The Brush Density setting (config, Clutter Brush Density) sets how thickly they paint.
- Bush brushes: Bush (Meadows), Bush (Heath), Tall Bush (Meadows) and Tall Bush (Heath). Like the other clutter brushes they are visual only and can be removed with Clear Clutter.
⭐ Landscaping:
- Place stones and rocks from the hoe's Landscaping category: a placeable stone, two rocks, and 14 rocks and 2 rock roots from the world, including boulders, high stones, wide stones and dolmens.
- With resource costs on, the rocks cost Stone (Grausten for the Ashlands lava rock) and the roots cost Frostwood, scaled by their size (at most 50).
- Rocks can be rotated, and are placed on the ground where you aim.
- Resize a Landscaping piece while placing it. Off by default; turn it on in the config (General Settings, Enable Scaling). Press the Scale Up key
(default ])to make it bigger and the Scale Down key(default [)to make it smaller. Hold the key to keep scaling. - Hold the X Axis Modifier
(default Left Alt)to change only the width, the Y Axis Modifier(default Left Shift)for only the height, or both for only the depth. Press the Scale Reset key(default End)to go back to normal size. - Each piece remembers its own size until you leave the game. Placed pieces keep their size after a reload and for other players.
- With resource costs on, each step bigger costs 1 more item and each step smaller 1 fewer, never less than 1. A step that changes only one axis counts as a third of a step. Removing a resized piece refunds what was paid for it.
- The keys, step size, size limits and cost per step are in the config under Landscaping Scale Settings.
- Remove a Landscaping piece by aiming at it with the hoe and pressing the Remove button
(default middle mouse). The resources are refunded, and the piece is highlighted while you aim at it. Wards are respected. - The hoe can only remove Landscaping pieces; buildings and the world's own rocks stay protected.
⭐ Planting:
- The hoe's Planting category has the cultivator's seeds and saplings, including ones other mods add to the cultivator. The cultivator's own Cultivate and grass tools are left out, as the hoe already has its own.
- Plant on cultivated ground, as with the cultivator. Planting with the hoe raises the Farming skill, and the Farming skill lowers the stamina it costs, like the cultivator.
- Press the Step Back key
(default Z)with a Planting piece selected to remove the last plant you placed with the hoe and get its seeds back. Each press goes back one more plant, up to the Undo Steps setting. Plants that have grown, been picked or destroyed are skipped. If your inventory is full, the seeds are dropped at your feet. - The vanilla cultivator is not changed.
- On by default; turn it off in the config (General Settings, Enable Planting Category). Takes effect the next time the hoe is equipped.
⭐ Farm Grid:
- When placing a seed or sapling from the Planting category near other plants, it snaps to a grid spaced so each plant has room to grow, and the grid is drawn on the ground around it.
- A plant can't be placed where it would crowd another, including bigger plants such as tree saplings, so every plant can grow. You'll see "Too close to another plant" when this happens.
- With one plant nearby the grid lines up with one of the Snap Angles around it; with a row already planted it follows the row.
- Only works with the hoe's Planting category; the vanilla cultivator is not changed.
- Turns itself off when FarmGrid, Farm Grid Remake, Farming Grid or Plant Easily is installed, as they do this themselves.
- On by default; turn it off, change the spacing, grid size and snap angles, or add spacing for other prefabs in the config under Farm Grid Settings.
⭐ HD Textures:
- The clutter brushes and the Landscaping rocks use high resolution textures (on by default).
- Only what you paint or place changes; the world's own grass and rocks keep the game's textures.
- Turn them on or off with the HD Textures setting (config, Misc Settings), or press the HD Textures Hotkey
(default Left Alt + H)while holding the hoe. Painted clutter and placed rocks switch straight away.
⭐ Hoe Radius:
- Allows you to modify the size of land affected by the dirty hoe by holding down an optional modifier key
(default Left Alt)and scrolling with the mouse, or pressing one of two customizable hotkeys (default disabled).
⭐ Terrain Reset:
- To reset terrain using the dirty hoe hold down the modifier key
(default Left Ctrl and Left Click). - resetterrain [radius] is also available in the console. i.e.
resetterrain 10would reset terrain in a 10m radius.
⭐ Undo Terrain Changes:
- While holding the dirty hoe, press the Undo Hotkey
(default Left Alt + X)to undo the last terrain change. Each press goes back one more change, newest first. - Works for the terrain tools, paint tools, the ramp, the Reset Terrain piece, the Reset Hotkey and the resetterrain console command, so an accidental reset can be put back.
- Undo Hotkey (config, Misc Settings): the key or key combination to undo. Set to None to turn undo off.
- Undo Steps (config, Misc Settings): how many changes are remembered, from 1 to 20 (default 5).
- If a change is too far away to be loaded, move closer and try again.
- The Undo Hotkey does nothing while placing a ramp; use the Step Back key
(default Z)to undo a ramp point instead. - Stamina, durability and resources are not given back, and stones dropped by lowering stay on the ground.
- In multiplayer, undoing puts the spot back to how it was before your change, so any edit someone else made there afterwards is lost.
- The undo history is cleared when you leave the world. Clutter brush painting can't be undone.
⭐ Other Settings:
- Enable or disable durabilty.
- Enable or disable stamina.
- Enable or disable resources.
- Enable or disable workbench.
- Show or hide hotkeys in tool descriptions. A panel beside the selected piece's info lists the hotkeys that work with that tool, as set in your config, and the tool keeps its own description (on by default; General Settings, Show Hotkeys In Tool Descriptions). Tools without hotkeys show no panel.
⭐ Console Commands:
- resetterrain - Resets terrain to default state.
- remove_pieces - removes all structures around the player in a configured radius.
- remove_forestry - removes trees, shrubs, rocks etc in a configured radius.
🎚️ Configuration:
