VALtimaOnline
Ultima Online's Britannia, rebuilt inside Valheim: Trammel and Felucca side by side in one world, with UO's towns at building scale (2 m per UO tile).
Early alpha 0.0.18-alpha.1 (the plugin reports 0.0.18). Expect bugs. It plays on a VALtima server, whose world is made from VALtima's map folder. It builds UO's towns from Valheim's own building pieces, with UO's trees, furniture, burning torches and working doors, fills them with townsfolk who work at their trades, gives them vendors, a bank, quests, public moongates and treasure maps, covers the mountains in snow, places Ultima Online's sites (moongates, towns, dungeons and shrines) as location pins on the land that Better Continents generates, shows UO skill titles and fame on nameplates, and plays VALtima's own menu and biome music.
Requirements
- BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2351
- Better Continents 0.10.4, for the land and the towns. The server and every player must run exactly the same version. An older Better Continents opens a VALtima world as a plain vanilla world, and saving it with one breaks the world. Without Better Continents the plugin loads, but there are no towns and nothing is pinned.
- TerroritySmellatory 0.4.1, for the towns' safe havens and the two lands (installed by the server; see Territories).
- ValheimModding-YamlDotNet 16.3.1 and ValheimModding-JsonDotNET 13.0.4 (the quest files are YAML, the stores JSON).
- Optional: FineWoodPieces (blacks7ar), which holds the clay, fine-wood and furniture pieces the towns use. Without it, base-game pieces of the same shape stand in.
World 2: Trammel and Felucca
VALtima's world holds both of UO's lands: Trammel in the west and Felucca in the east, turned half round, with 3 km of sea between them, in a 65 km Better Continents world. Players start on an island in the middle. Its moongate leads to Trammel's towns; its two docks, each at the end of a dirt road from the spawn and marked on the map ("Dock to Trammel", "Dock to Felucca"), are where the boat trips begin. Felucca is reached by boat. Its towns force PvP on, its guards still come for a grey in town, and fame and karma from kills there count 30 % more.
Towns
UO's 32 towns, Trammel's and Felucca's, are part of the world: Better Continents 0.10.4 draws them from the world folder's baked layer (placements.bcp), from Valheim's own building pieces, by GPU instancing. The buildings are scenery: they can't be damaged or removed. Their furniture, UO's trees, bushes and flowers, and the banners on the walls are drawn the same way. The wall torches, braziers, fire pits and candles near you are real copies of their pieces, so they burn and light the streets. The streets and floors are painted into the ground, so grass doesn't grow there. Some town buildings are community builds, credited by their builders in the world folder's TOWN-CREDITS.txt. An existing world gets a newer town layer with Better Continents' bc_bake load (a dry run first, then confirm); no new world is needed.
Mountains and snow
The mountains are covered in VALtima's own snow, from 200 to 300 m upwards to the summits, steep faces too. It keeps the Deep North's rules: you wade in it and are slowed, walking cuts a trench through it, and you can't build on deep snow until a hoe clears it. The snow is drawn on each player's screen from valtima-snow.bundle beside the DLL. Setting: 09 Snow / Snow Cover.
Townsfolk, guards and stations
UO's townsfolk (shopkeepers, guildmasters, criers, healers and the rest) work at their trades with their trade's tools: cooks wipe, carpenters saw, fishermen fish, farmers hoe. They walk set routes through their town and rest along the way, stop when a player stands close, and wait a while after a talk. Two guards stand at each town gate (Buccaneer's Den has none). Press E to talk to one. Type "guards" in chat when a monster has followed you into a town. UO's town doors open for anyone and close by themselves after 6 seconds (05 Towns / Town Door Close Seconds). The towns' chairs, benches and stools can be sat on, and their forges, ovens, spinning wheels, workbenches and cauldrons work, with the upgrades UO's shops have beside them. NPCs, guards, doors and stations can't be hurt or taken down. Each town is a safe haven for TerroritySmellatory, installed by the server as a new world loads. Settings: 08 NPCs, and 05 Towns for seats and stations.
Fame, karma and murder counts
UO's reputation, decided by the server. Killing a creature gives fame and karma by UO's numbers for the nearest UO creature (creature-reputation.json beside the DLL). Everyone's fame and karma title, such as "The Glorious Lord", shows on their nameplate beside the skill title. Outside the towns, striking an innocent player makes you grey for 2 minutes, a killed player may report the murder, and five long-term murder counts make you red: a red returns to life only at the Shrine of Chaos. Settings: 06 Reputation. Console: sins shows your own standing; vrep is for admins.
Quests
Quests are YAML files. The ones that ship are in quests/ beside the DLL, among them Nomadicwar's community quests (credited in quests/nomadicwar/CREDITS.yml); a server's own go in BepInEx/config/VALtimaOnline/quests/ and are reloaded when they change. The server keeps each character's progress beside the world's save. The journal opens with L. Settings: 07 Quests. Console: vq (admins).
KG Marketplace 10.x quest files can be used as they are. Copy KG's Quests, QuestProfiles, QuestEvents, Dialogues and Marketplace_SavedNPCs folders into BepInEx/config/VALtimaOnline/kg/. The server converts them at every reload and when they change, and writes kg-import-report.md beside the folder: every line it changed or left out, with its file and line. Name the town NPC who gives each KG giver's quests in kg/kg-talk-names.yml. Setting: 07 Quests / Import KG Folder.
Vendors
Each town's shopkeepers sell and buy only their own trade's goods: the baker what an oven makes, the butcher raw meat, the smiths what a forge makes. Press E on a vendor to open the store (Shift + E when it has a quest for you). Each town sells up to one tier of Wonderland's progression ladder, rising with the distance from Britain, up to Delucia, which sells everything. Prices follow Valkyries Cargo's. A vendor buys its own trade's goods back at half price, up to 1,000 coins a day, and restocks each game day. The stock lists and prices are in valtima-vendors.json beside the DLL. Settings: 14 Vendors.
The bank
Say "bank" near a banker, or press E on one, to open the counter; "balance" tells you what your box holds. Each character has its own box of 125 stacks, with coins kept as a balance, and every box belongs to the Steam account of the player's connection. Each movement is a trade with the banker, confirmed by the character's own save, so a crash or a dropped connection neither copies nor loses anything. The server writes every movement to a journal and copies the accounts to BepInEx/config/VALtima/bank-backups (every 10 minutes when something changed, at each world save and at shutdown). Settings: 11 Banking. Console: valtima_bank (admins).
Moongates
UO's eight public moongates (Moonglow, Britain, Jhelom, Yew, Minoc, Trinsic, Skara Brae and Magincia) stand at their UO places. Press E at a gate and choose where to go. In a world with Felucca, each land has its own list: Trammel's gates list Trammel's other gates and the gate on the start island, the start island's gate lists Trammel's, and Felucca's gates list Felucca's only. Felucca is reached by boat, from the start island's Felucca dock. Players can't build Valheim's own portals in a VALtima world (10 Moongates / Allow Portals). Ore and metal can't pass, as with Valheim's portals; anyone who struck another player in the last 30 seconds is refused, and so is a murderer at any gate but Felucca's (as in UO, a red's gates are Felucca's). In a new world each gate stands in a small safe haven. Settings: 10 Moongates.
The Moon Gates are the Woodland Portal by MonkeyMagicMan: a living-wood gateway with a stone stair, two lanterns, and glowing runes and a swirl, blue in Trammel and on the start island and red in Felucca, as UO's were. MonkeyMagicMan made the models, textures and effects and shared them for this mod. They are in plugins/valtima-moongates.bundle, credited in plugins/MOONGATE-CREDITS.txt. 10 Moongates / Woodland Gates off draws the gates as one of Valheim's portals instead.
Treasure maps
Creatures sometimes drop a treasure map of their biome's level (bosses a level higher). Reading one marks its spot on your map; six blows of a pickaxe or hoe there raise a chest with guardians round it. Only its digger can open it, and not while a guardian lives. Seven levels, from the Plainly Drawn map of the Meadows to the Ancient map of the Ashlands. Settings: 12 Treasure Maps. Console: valtima_treasure (admins).
Region spawns
UO's spawn regions, with Valheim creatures standing in for UO's, are built but off until they have been walked: 13 Region Spawns / Enable Region Spawns. When on, they keep out of the towns' havens and of every TerroritySmellatory claim with "No Monster Spawns".
VALtima worlds
When you join a world whose server runs VALtimaOnline, the server tells your game that this is a VALtima world. Only then do the biome music and VikingOS's VALtima mode switch on. In any other world they stay off. VikingOS draws VALtima's own pictures in that mode (the inventory and chest panels, the minimap's ring and the paperdoll's frame); VALtimaOnline puts them where VikingOS reads them, in VALtimaOnline/uo-art in Valheim's own user folder, when the game starts.

Music
plugins/valtima-music.bundle holds a menu track and one track per biome of Trammel: Meadows, Black Forest, Mountain, Plains, Swamp, and Ocean (also the sailing music). The AshLands, combat, bosses, events and every other moment keep Valheim's own music. Every track was levelled to one loudness and encoded for the game; nothing else was changed.

Territories
Each town and each moongate's square is a TerroritySmellatory territory (in Trammel a safe haven: PvP off, no monster spawns, no raids), grouped under the two lands, Trammel and Felucca. The server installs them from the world folder as a new world loads, and upgrades a world's territory file by itself when nobody has changed it in game. With TerroritySmellatory 0.4.1 a territory shows on the map only where you have explored.
Third-party code
- ServerSync (blaxxun-boop, MIT-0) is compiled in; it carries the quest catalog to the players.
- YamlDotNet (MIT) and Json.NET (MIT) are not bundled: they come from the ValheimModding packages listed under Requirements.
The world's data
VALtima's land and towns are derived from Ultima Online's client data. That world data is not in this package: it stays with the server, which runs the world from VALtima's map folder. VALtimaOnline is an unofficial fan tribute, not made, sponsored or endorsed by Iron Gate, Coffee Stain, Origin Systems or Electronic Arts.
