when being close to a non-vanilla portal, there seems to be an issue. i'm not entirely sure but just adding or removing target portal brings up or removes the error below:
[Error : Unity Log] NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Stack trace:
TeleportWorld.GetTagInfo () (at :0)
(wrapper dynamic-method) TeleportWorld.DMDTeleportWorld::GetHoverText(TeleportWorld)
Hud.UpdateCrosshair (Player player, System.Single bowDrawPercentage) (at :0)
(wrapper dynamic-method) Hud.DMDHud::Update(Hud)
is there any chance this could be fixed and compatibility with AdvancedPortals could be established? that would be really appreciated. thank you!

TargetPortal is fine. Probably a bug with the other mod, which wouldn't be surprising at all, considering who the author is ...
But you can always just use the original RareMagicPortals, which is the mod that AdvancedPortals copied. The author of that uses TargetPortal too, so chances are high that they work together.

i understand.
i can confirm after testing, that raremagicportals does indeed work or in part even requires a TargetPortal, though sadly is not what i am looking for (unless you didn't mean https://valheim.hexium.gg/mods/WackyMole/RareMagicPortalPlus, which is the only one I could find). i guess i will either have to live with the error message or hope for a fix from the author of advancedportals.
thank you for your time and keep up the good work!

this may change nothing and still may not be a bug in target portal.
for completeness sake i just wanted to let you know that when selecting one of the advancedportals in build-menu, this message pops up even before the portal has been built:
[Error : Unity Log] NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Stack trace:
TargetPortal.TargetPortal+SetInitialPortalMode.Prefix (TeleportWorld __instance) (at :0)
(wrapper dynamic-method) TeleportWorld.DMDTeleportWorld::Awake(TeleportWorld)

Player:DMDPlayer::SetupPlacementGhost(Player)
Player:SetSelectedPiece(Vector2Int)
Player:SetSelectedPiece(Piece)
BuildUi:OnSelectPiece(Piece)
BuildUiPieceButton:OnClickButton()
UnityEngine.EventSystems.EventSystem:Update()

Seems to just be a bug where it can't properly label advanced portals? Seems to work together otherwise. I dropped a message in randy's discord hoping for a fix. Love TargetPortal <3
