Tested with deep north weapon and armor piece. Adding a socket to the above, (not using external YAML), costs leather scrap and flint instead of DN materials. Other gear still uses their biome-appropriate materials

Yeah, they are missing in the resource map. Either make your own as a quick fix or wait for the next update.
