MorePortals
Seven new buildable portals for Valheim - each with its own hand-finished look, swirl colour and effects. They are real portals: tag two with the same name and they connect, exactly like the vanilla portal.
| Portal | Look | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dwarven Portal | Dark stone and bronze, carved dwarven faces with glowing golden eyes, orange runes, gold plasma orbs cradled in iron claws |
| 2 | Castle Portal | Weathered grey castle stone, blue runes, frosted lanterns with a purple Yagluth-style flame, blue crystals |
| 3 | Chained Portal | Spiked iron and hanging chains, lime runes, braziers burning dark green and black |
| 4 | Woodland Portal | Living wood wrapped in moss and vines, green runes, frosted lanterns with green fire, green firefly lights |
| 5 | Forest Portal | Vines and glowing blue flowers (with drifting thistle-like lights), blue runes, frosted lanterns with blue fire |
| 6 | Crystal Portal | Ice crystals, wolf-fur banners, blue runes, a blue and red swirl |
| 7 | Star Portal | A Stargate-style ring: red runes at rest; when you come near a connected gate the runes flash and turn blue, a burst of water shoots out, is pulled back in and settles into a rippling silver-blue liquid surface |
Building them
Open the hammer and look in the same build-menu category as the vanilla portals. The default recipe is the same as the vanilla portal: 10 Greydwarf Eye, 20 Fine Wood, 2 Surtling Core (all returned when you dismantle one), built at a workbench.
The portals are big (the walk-through opening is 3 m wide; the whole piece is roughly 6-8 m wide). Give them a flat area. Each one rests on the surface you aim at.
How they work
Everything works like the vanilla portal: press E to set a tag, two portals with the same tag are linked, walk through the ring to travel. When you walk up to a connected portal its swirl (or the Star Portal's liquid surface) switches on.
Configuration (BepInEx/config/com.monkeymagicman.moreportals.cfg)
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Crafting - [portal name] recipe (one per portal) | Materials as Item:amount pairs, for example GreydwarfEye:10,FineWood:20,SurtlingCore:2. Use item prefab names (Stone, SurtlingCore, Coins ...). Invalid names are skipped (a warning is logged); an empty value restores the default. Admin-synced - on a server everyone uses the admin's recipe. |
| General - Allow non-teleportable items | Lets players carry items that normally cannot be teleported (ores, metals ...) through MorePortals portals. Off by default. Admin-synced. |
| Effects - Lantern and flame lights | Turns the dynamic point lights on the lanterns and braziers off for a little extra performance (visual only, per player). |
| Placement - Ground sink | How far the portals are lowered into the ground (default 0.15 m, needs a restart). |
| Portal1 plasma orbs - Radius | Size of the gold orbs on portal 1 (needs a restart). |
| Portal1 eye orbs - Diameter / Emission | Size and brightness of the glowing eyes on the dwarven faces. |
Multiplayer
Everyone on the server (and the server itself) must have this mod, at the same 0.1.x version. The crafting recipes and the non-teleportable-items option follow the server admin's settings.
Compatibility
- Requires Jotunn (installed automatically by your mod manager).
- Uses the game's own portal code, so portal rules from other mods (and the vanilla teleport restrictions) apply as usual. Other portal mods are not specially supported yet.
Known limitations
- Large pieces: they need a reasonably flat surface; on steep slopes one side will sit higher than the other.
- Several portals close together mean several lights and particle effects - use the Lantern and flame lights option if your frame rate drops.
- English only.
