ValheimPlus

A HarmonyX Mod aimed at improving the gameplay quality of Valheim. The mod includes several different main features that allow users to modify the stats of players, buildings and entities. V+ also offers players the ability to build and place objects with very high precision through a sophisticated system, as well as tweaking and modifying already placed objects with equal precision. The goal is to provide V+ as a base modification for Valheim to increase quality of life, tweak the game's difficulty, and in general, improve the player's experience. V+ also comes with a version and configuration control system for servers and users, enabling server owners to ensure that only players with the same configuration are able to join the server.

All features can be enabled and tweaked through the V+ config file.

Installation Instructions

ATTENTION FOR MULTIPLAYER: Both the game and the server should have this mod installed to prevent all kinds of different issues. If you have the mod installed and then have friends join over steam they should have the mod as well.

Installation instructions for every supported variant — mod manager, manual, client and dedicated server, on Windows and Unix — can be found in INSTALL.md.

Please read the section about Server Config & Version Control (About Version Enforcement) below.

What if the game updates?

Game updates are unlikely to do more than partially break specific features of ValheimPlus at worst. In case you encounter any issues, use Steam's verify integrity feature and wait for it to download/update all files. This should resolve any issues related. If you continue to have issues, contact the help channel in our discord server.

For which mod versions work with which game versions, see COMPATIBILITY.md.

Server Config & Version Control (About Version Enforcement)

  • If you have the Server section and enforceMod enabled in the mods config, only players with the same mod version can join your server and you can only join servers with the same mod version installed.
  • If you have the Server section and serverSyncsConfig enabled in the mods config, every player joining your server will receive the servers configuration.

This system is working reliably and is issue-free. Any issues encountered are likely derived from a faulty configuration set up, or the server/client not running v+.

Configuration File

The config file is BepInEx\config\org.bepinex.plugins.valheim_plus.cfg. It is created the first time you start your game or server, so there is nothing to download or copy in.

If you have Configuration Manager installed you can edit the settings in game instead, from the main menu. Settings are read-only while a world is loaded, because most of them only take effect when the game starts.

You can turn off and on every feature of V+ via the config file, by default all settings are turned off.

Upgrading keeps your settings: new options are added to your file with their defaults, and an older valheim_plus.cfg is imported once and then set aside as valheim_plus.cfg.migrated.

When hosting a server, players who join use the server's settings if you have the Server section and the serverSyncsConfig option enabled. Their own config file is not modified, and their settings come back when they disconnect. Keybinds, HUD options and field of view always stay the player's own.

Only the server configuration file (located in the server files) needs to be set up when hosting a server with V+ by default.

When hosting for other players over steam, every player will need v+ and they will receive the local settings from the host's game folder.

Changelog

Notable changes to ValheimPlus, newest first. Each entry mirrors the patch notes from its GitHub release.

Releases before 0.10.0.0 targeted Valheim versions that are no longer compatible; see the release archive for those notes.

10.4.0 Latest

Released 2026-10-24

Behavior Changes

  • Seeds no longer follow Pickable.flowersAndIngredients. They have their own Pickable.seeds setting, which starts at 0, so set it if you boosted seeds before.

Patch Notes

  • New Map.syncPins setting, which shares map pins through the server. Other players' pins appear faded until you click them, and deleting a pin removes it for everyone.
  • New Adrenaline section, covering adrenaline gain and decay, how much adrenaline trinkets need, and how long their effects last.
  • New LootDrop settings for the drop chance of Caller, Vanguard and Protector armor moulds.
  • New Windmill.stopAutoFuelOatThreshold setting, which stops the windmill pulling oats from nearby chests once they hold enough oat flour.
  • New Inventory sizes for the Drakkar, Grausten chest, wardrobe and barrel.
  • New Gathering settings for Timberwood, Petrified Tissue, Obsidian, Ice and Soft Tissue.
  • Pickable now covers newer pickables, such as Lingonberries, Kale, Poteitr, ore and gemstones, and adds seeds, moltenCores and frostCores settings.
  • Moose added to Tameable and Procreation.
  • The Drakkar now shows on the map with Map.displayCartsAndBoats.
  • Fixes Gathering.dropChance, which wasn't doing anything.
  • Fixes auto-deposit duplicating output when only partially outputting to a chest and the ground.
  • Fixes free placement rotation sometimes not working.
  • Fixes some Procreation and Tameable errors.
  • Version numbers drop the leading 0. This release is 10.4.0.0, matching the 10.4.0 shown on Thunderstore and Hexium.
  • Releases no longer include the old valheim_plus.cfg. The config file is created the first time you start the game or server.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.20 (n-41) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2351 + ValheimPlus 10.4.0.0
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Map.syncPins
    • The server keeps the world's shared pins and saves them, so pins reach players who were never online at the same time and survive restarts.
    • A pin from another player arrives faded, using the game's own marking for someone else's pin. Left-click it on the large map to adopt it.
    • Deleting a pin removes it for everyone, including players who were offline at the time.
    • Shared pin types are the placeable icons, boss, Hildir and memorial pins. Death, spawn and ping markers stay local.
    • Reading a cartography table no longer deletes shared pins.
    • The server and every client need this version. Players who turn off the game's shared map data won't see shared pins, but they come back when it is turned on again.
  • Adrenaline
    • gainMultiplier scales every adrenaline gain, decayMultiplier scales how quickly the bar drains, trinketCostMultiplier scales how much adrenaline equipped trinkets need, and surgeDurationMultiplier scales how long a trinket's effect lasts.
    • Item tooltips show the adjusted cost and duration.
  • LootDrop armor mould drop chances
    • callerMouldDropChanceMultiplier, vanguardMouldDropChanceMultiplier and protectorMouldDropChanceMultiplier each cover a set's helmet, chest and leg moulds, and stack with lootDropChanceMultiplier.
  • LootDrop.lootDropChanceMultiplier = -100
    • Drops with a chance of 30% or less use the game's pseudo-random counter, which still awarded a drop whose chance had been set to 0. Those drops are now removed instead.
  • Gathering.dropChance
    • A 2024 change inverted its check, so it skipped the chance-based drops it is meant for, such as muddy scrap piles, and could reduce guaranteed drops instead. It works as described again.
  • Gathering
    • New timberwood, petrifiedTissue, obsidian, ice and softTissue settings.
    • Each setting's description now names the item as it appears in game.
  • Pickable
    • New items in edibles, materials and valuables, and new seeds, moltenCores and frostCores settings.
    • Seeds, now in seeds, used to follow flowersAndIngredients. Entrails moved to flowersAndIngredients.
  • Inventory
    • New drakkarInventory*, graustenChest*, wardrobe* and barrel* settings. The Drakkar no longer uses the longboat's size.
  • Windmill.stopAutoFuelOatThreshold
    • Stops pulling oats once nearby chests hold this much oat flour. Barley and oat seeds are still pulled.
  • Auto-deposit
    • When a chest could only fit part of a machine's output, the deposited part was also dropped on the ground. Only the remainder is dropped now.
  • Auto-fuel
    • Machines now look up nearby chests once per update instead of twice, and work out their stop thresholds once instead of once per chest.
  • Free placement rotation
    • Stopped working whenever V+ re-applied its patches, such as when joining a server or changing a setting.
  • Procreation and Tameable
    • Some objects, such as nameable build pieces and modded creatures, have these components without being a creature. They threw errors when loaded or when selected in the build menu.
  • Version scheme
    • Versions are now Major.Minor.Patch.0. The fourth part only exists for the game's version format and stays 0.
0.10.3

Released 2026-10-15

Patch Notes

  • Support for Valheim 1.0.20.
  • Experience.dodge added.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.20 (n-41) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2351 + ValheimPlus 0.10.3.0
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Cheat flag and auto-deposit
    • Valheim 1.0.20 resets the cheat flag on stations: anything flagged by an earlier version is now treated as clean, and the game's own output from those stations is no longer marked as cheated.
    • Auto-deposit for smelter-type stations and fermenters still read the old flag, so items it put in chests were marked as cheated where the game's would not be. Cheated items spread the mark to the stacks they join and to anything crafted from them, and they block achievements.
    • Auto-deposit now reads the flag the same way the game does. Items marked before this fix stay marked.
  • LootDrop and starred creatures
    • The game now lets a drop scale its chance with a creature's star level without also scaling the amount. LootDrop rebuilt each drop without that setting, so those drops still had their amount multiplied by 2 for 1-star and 4 for 2-star creatures.
    • The setting is now kept, so starred creatures drop the amounts the game intends, before your LootDrop multipliers.
  • Experience.dodge added
  • Furnace.allowAllOres
    • The list of extra ores was hardcoded. It is now read from the smelter prefab, so ores the game adds to the smelter are picked up automatically, and ores the furnace already accepts are not added a second time.
0.10.2

Released 2026-09-19

Patch Notes

  • New FrigidKiln section, covering production speed, ice capacity, ice used per product, auto deposit and auto fuel for the Frigid Kiln.
  • New FrostFoundry section, covering production speed, Frozen Fuel capacity, fuel used per item, and auto fuel for the Frost Foundry.
  • New Building.noHeavySnowDamage and Building.noLavaDamage settings, which stop heavy snow and lava from damaging your structures.
  • New StructuralIntegrity.allowDismantlingOfBoatsAndCarts setting, which lets player-built boats and carts be dismantled with the hammer.
  • Oven settings now only affect the oven, instead of every fuel-burning cooking station.
  • Fixes Game.difficultyScaleRange shrinking the difficulty radius to 2 meters whenever the Game section was enabled. Its default is now 100, which matches the game.
  • Fixes Time.totalDayTimeInSeconds not taking effect on servers that sync their config, and not going back to the game's day length when the Time section is turned off.
  • Fixes errors on clients that have Map.shareMapProgression on while the server has it off.
  • Fixes the game hanging on Apple Silicon (arm64) when V+ re-applies its patches, such as after closing the settings window or joining a server.
  • Removes Map.shareAllPins, which has not done anything since the old V+ pin editor was retired.
  • Removes the V+ tutorial raven that appeared when spawning in.

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Frigid Kiln
    • The new FrigidKiln section has productionSpeed (default 30 seconds per Frozen Fuel), maximumIce (default 25), iceUsedPerProduct (default 5), plus autoDeposit, autoFuel, ignorePrivateAreaCheck and autoRange.
  • Frost Foundry
    • The new FrostFoundry section has productionSpeed (default 50 seconds per item), maximumFrozenFuel (default 20), frozenFuelUsedPerProduct (default 5), plus autoFuel, ignorePrivateAreaCheck and autoRange.
    • The Frost Foundry presents its item to the user to be interacted with, so there is no autoDeposit here.
  • Oven settings
    • Oven.infiniteFuel, Oven.autoFuel, Oven.autoRange and Oven.ignorePrivateAreaCheck applied to every cooking station that burns fuel, not just the oven. Each one is now matched by piece, so the oven's settings only touch ovens, and the Frost Foundry uses the new FrostFoundry section.
    • If you were using Oven.autoFuel or Oven.infiniteFuel to fuel something other than an oven, that no longer happens.
  • Heavy snow and lava damage
    • Valheim 1.0 added two new wear sources for structures: heavy snow, and standing in lava. Building.noWeatherDamage only covers rain and water erosion, so neither could be turned off.
    • Building.noHeavySnowDamage stops heavy snow from damaging structures, and also suppresses the damage puffs that went with it, so a structure that no longer takes the damage no longer shows it either.
    • Building.noLavaDamage stops lava from damaging structures, and removes the lava contribution to the Ashlands damage shader.
  • Dismantling boats and carts
    • StructuralIntegrity.allowDismantlingOfBoatsAndCarts lets you remove a player-built boat or cart with the hammer instead of having to destroy it.
    • A vehicle is only removable when nobody is aboard the boat, nobody is pulling the cart, and its cargo is empty. The game's own checks still apply, so no-build zones and wards work as they always have.
    • Only player-built vehicles qualify. Boats and carts that are part of the world are left alone.
  • Game.difficultyScaleRange
    • Enabling the Game section ran the configured range through a Math.Min(range, 2), so instead of using your setting the difficulty radius shrank to 2 meters and nearby players almost never counted. The setting is now used as written.
    • The default was 200, which did not match the game's 100. It is now 100, so enabling the section changes nothing on its own, and the setting is clamped to 1-20000.
  • Day length and server config sync
    • The day length was applied once, while EnvMan started up. On a server that syncs its config, that happened before the server's values arrived, so Time.totalDayTimeInSeconds was ignored. Turning the Time section off also left the previous value in place until the game was restarted.
    • The day length is now kept in step with the config while the game runs, and the game's own day length is restored when the Time section is off.
  • Map sharing
    • A client with Map.shareMapProgression on would send its map to a server that has map sharing off, and the server threw a NullReferenceException for every one of those messages. The server now ignores them.
    • Map data is still only sent on your first spawn, not on every death.
  • Re-applying patches
    • V+ rebuilds its patches whenever the settings change, for example when you close the settings window or join a server that syncs its config. That happens from inside a patched method, and re-patching rewrites methods in place, so the code was being swapped out from under a live call. On x64 that survived; on arm64 it hung the game.
    • The rebuild now runs on the next frame instead, once the call that triggered it has finished.
    • The ServerSync library that V+ bundles also has its own patches. Those are no longer torn out and re-applied along with the mod's, so a config package arriving from a server cannot pull out the transport that is delivering it.
  • Map.shareAllPins
    • The pin sharing UI it belonged to was retired long ago, and the code left behind never shared anything, whatever the setting was set to. The setting, its RPC and the leftover UI bundle are gone.
  • Tutorial raven
    • The V+ raven that popped up on spawn to ask for Patreon support has been removed.
  • Config file layout
    • Sections are now written in alphabetical order, both in the config file and in Configuration Manager, which makes them easier to find. Your existing values are unaffected.
