Decamods Charred Fortress Gemstone Magic
Put the gems from the Charred Fortresses into your Blood Magic staves. Adds gemstone versions of the Staff of Protection and the Dead Raiser, one each for Bloodstone, Iolite and Jade, crafted and upgraded at the Galdr table like the Ashlands gem staves.
Features
Gem Staffs of Protection
- Bleeding Staff of Protection (Bloodstone). The barrier can absorb twice as much damage as a normal one.
- Thundering Staff of Protection (Iolite). Anything that strikes the barrier takes lightning damage, with a chance for the lightning to chain to nearby enemies.
- Primal Staff of Protection (Jade). Anything that strikes the barrier is poisoned, with a chance to be rooted in place, the same effect as Jade weapons.
One barrier at a time. Casting a barrier replaces any other barrier the target already has, vanilla or gem, so barriers from different staffs don't stack. Recasting the same staff still just refreshes its barrier.
Gem Dead Raisers
Gem Dead Raisers raise tougher skeletons, with double the health of vanilla ones, armed with gemstone weapons. Swordsmen carry a gem Nidhögg and archers a gem Ash Fang, each with that gem's effect:
- Bleeding Dead Raiser (Bloodstone). The skeletons hit harder the more wounded they are.
- Thundering Dead Raiser (Iolite). The skeletons' attacks add lightning damage and can chain lightning to nearby enemies.
- Primal Dead Raiser (Jade). The skeletons' attacks add poison damage and can root their targets.
Choose what you raise. No more rolling for an archer: with any Dead Raiser equipped (gem or vanilla), hold Ctrl and roll the mouse wheel to pick the kind of skeleton it raises:
- Sword & Shield: a gem Nidhögg and a Flametal shield
- Sword: a gem Nidhögg
- Archer: a gem Ash Fang
While a Dead Raiser is in your hands, a Raising status shows the kind of skeleton it will raise, and the key hints at the bottom of the screen include Ctrl + Mouse Wheel: Change Summon Type. Your choice is saved with your character and applies to every skeleton you raise until you change it. The key can be changed in the config.
One shared skeleton cap. As in vanilla, all your skeletons (vanilla, Bleeding, Thundering and Primal) count toward one cap, set by the upgrade level of the staff you cast: up to 4 at max upgrade. Servers that want a separate cap for each kind can turn off SharedSkeletonCap.
Charred Phylactery
A soul jar of Ashlands pottery, bound with all three gems of the Charred Fortress. While you wear it:
- you can keep 2 more skeletons raised at once
- you have 100 more maximum eitr, so you can cast without eating eitr food
It's a passive trinket: no adrenaline bar, just the bonuses.
| Crafted at | Materials |
|---|---|
| Black Forge, level 1 | 10 Flametal, 3 Celestial Feather, 1 Bloodstone, 1 Iolite, 1 Jade |
Gem colors
Each gem staff takes on its gemstone's color: the model in your hand, its inventory icon, the burst when you cast it, and what it leaves behind (the barrier bubble, its status icon and its hit and break effects, or the summoning effects).
| Bloodstone | Iolite | Jade | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Staff of Protection | Red | Blue | Green |
| Dead Raiser | Red (stands apart from the purple vanilla staff) | Blue | Green |
They also get a Charred Fortress look: the gem Staffs of Protection have an ashwood shaft, the gem Dead Raisers a charred skull, and the skeletons they raise have charred bones (down to the bones they leave behind), so even the red Bloodstone staff stands apart from the vanilla one. Each color, and the charred look, can be changed in the config.
Everything else works like the vanilla staves: barrier size and skeleton strength still scale with Blood Magic, and upgrades still add barrier duration or skeleton count.
Recipes
All six are made at the Galdr table, following the vanilla gem staves (Trollstav, Staff of the Wild):
| Quality | Gem Staff of Protection | Gem Dead Raiser | Galdr table level |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Staff of Protection, 5 Flametal, 1 gem, 1 Molten Core, 10 Ashwood | Dead Raiser, 5 Flametal, 1 gem, 1 Molten Core, 1 Charred Skull | 2 |
| 2 | 5 Flametal, 1 gem | 5 Flametal, 1 gem | 3 |
| 3 | 10 Flametal, 2 gems | 10 Flametal, 2 gems | 4 |
| 4 | 15 Flametal, 3 gems | 15 Flametal, 3 gems | 5 |
As with the vanilla gem staves, the base staff's upgrade level doesn't carry over, so use a level 1 staff. The fourth upgrade needs a level 5 Galdr table, the same as the vanilla gem staves.
Configuration
The config file is created on first launch at BepInEx/config/decamods.charredfortressgemstonemagic.cfg. On a server, the server's gameplay settings override everyone's local ones, so everyone plays by the same rules. Visual settings and controls are applied when the game starts, before you join, so each player keeps their own.
