ValheimRaftBedFix (Updated)
Unofficial compatibility update of ValheimRaftBedFix by Viking Aquatic Longship Hazard Emergency Intervention Mission, who is not involved in this upload. The original has not been updated since the Valheim 1.0 release and crashes on current game versions. This package exists so that friends can install a working build from a shared mod profile.
If you are the original author and want this taken down, message the team on Hexium (Discord is linked) and it will be removed.
What it does
Valheim saves your logout and respawn positions as world coordinates. On a ship that keeps moving while you are offline, that leaves you in the ocean. This mod stores your position relative to the ship instead:
- Reconnect restore – log out (or crash out) while aboard a ValheimRAFT vessel or a vanilla ship, and on login you are held above the ship's last known position until it loads, then placed back on deck where you were standing. Works even if the ship has sailed off since.
- Respawn aboard – die on the ship and you respawn back onto it rather than at the bed's old world coordinates.
- Server ship registry – when installed on the dedicated server as well, the server tracks where each ship is so clients can find it even if nobody has that area loaded.
- Falls back to your claimed mobile bed, then to world origin, if the ship can't be found.
What changed in this update (0.1.6 – 0.1.7)
Tested on Valheim 1.0.17 with ValheimRAFT 5.0.9 (BepInEx 5.4.23.5).
- Fixed
MissingMethodExceptiononMessageHud.ShowMessage– the game added a parameter; the mod crashed every frame during a restore and left players hanging in the air. - Fixed
NullReferenceExceptionin the ship registry while connecting to a server. - Fixed the restore triggering constantly while standing on a ship (it re-read its own "on ship" record every frame and kept yanking the player to the holding position).
- Leaving a ship now clears the stored record, so logging out on land gives a normal login.
- The holding position no longer goes through the game's distant-teleport sequence, which blocked the final placement on deck.
- Capped the "wait for the ship to settle" phase at 10 s so a bobbing or beached ship can't stall the restore indefinitely.
- Fall-height tracking is reset on placement, so dropping from the holding position never counts as fall damage.
- Temporary god mode during restore now actually finds the field it looks for.
- (0.1.7) Vehicle detection rewritten: the mod now asks ValheimRAFT which vehicle you are aboard instead of guessing from nearby objects. 0.1.6 treated trees, rocks and the player themself as "ships", so logging out on land still restored you onto the boat. Update from 0.1.6.
- (0.1.7) Dying with your spawn bed on a ship now respawns you at that bed wherever the ship is, and re-points the vanilla spawn point at it. A bed on land respawns normally.
ValheimRAFT's DynamicLocations
ValheimRAFT 5.x bundles DynamicLocations, which is meant to do the same job but (as RAFT's own
README notes) does not reliably update beds on moved ships, and its login path does not run on
current Valheim. If both are active they fight over where you spawn. Disable its two features in
BepInEx/config/zolantris.DynamicLocations.cfg on the server (they are admin-only synced
settings, so the server's values override every client's):
enableDynamicSpawnPoints = false
enableDynamicLogoutPoints = false
In single player, change the same lines in your own config. The mod logs a warning at startup if they are still on.
No gameplay features were added or removed beyond what was needed to make the original work.
Install
Install with Gale (or any Thunderstore-compatible manager). Install it on the dedicated server
too if you run one. Remove the original ValheimRaftBedFix package if it is in your profile –
both use the same plugin ID, so BepInEx will load only the newer one, but there is no reason to
keep both.
ValheimRAFT is an optional dependency and is not declared in the manifest because it is not published on Hexium. Install it separately from Thunderstore.
